The St. Johns River is expected to rise sometime Thursday, and that could mean a shut down of State Road 46.

Florida Highway Patrol says troopers will monitor the Seminole County side of the highway throughout the night and report to Florida Dept. of Transportation engineers if the water levels make the road impassable.

Right now SR 46 remains open and there is no standing water. Should the road shut down, a very preliminary road closure would run from Jungle Road, near Lake Harney, to the Seminole-Brevard County line.

Drivers should seek alternate routes of the at Maytown Road to the north of SR 46 and State Road 50 to the south, should the road shut down.
