Deputies responded Saturday to a home on Academy Drive after a resident reported two people on his property without permission.

The male resident told deputies the two people were cutting downed power lines from a pole that had snapped during Hurricane Irma.

The neighborhood had been without power since the storm.

Deputies said Charles Wayne Mahoy, 41, and Andrea Foster, 45, both of Altamonte Springs, had about $5,000 worth of power lines in the back of their truck.

Marijuana and methamphetamine were also found in the truck, along with drug paraphernalia, deputies said.

Mahoy and Foster were arrested and charged with larceny during a state of emergency, criminal mischief and drug possession.

Both were transported to the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford.
