Who in Volusia County ordered all the rain?

  • Daytona beach is seeing an increase of rain
  • Central Florida is in middle of the dry season

Daytona Beach has had more than 3 inches of rain since Tuesday and one location near Holly Hill was approaching 5 inches.

That is a lot of rain for this time of the year. In fact, Wednesday has been the rainiest day in Daytona Beach sine Hurricane Irma.

The heavy rain did cause some problems with flooded roads and even mud washing into the roads at the construction site for the new Interstate 95 and I-4 interchange area.

However, the good news is that all the rain is going to knock down the fire danger. This is the dry season and we start to get wildfires about this time as the brush dries out and dies.

The dry season started in October 2017 and it will end in May of 2018.

All the rain is thanks to a long fetch of Atlantic moisture coming in from the east. Until a cold front arrives on Friday, that flow will continue.

Not everyone is going to see the amount of rain that has been coming down along the beaches, but keep those umbrellas handy for the next few days.
