Firefighters are keeping a close eye on a fast-moving brush fire near the Brevard-Orange County line.

The fire started Sunday near State Road 520 close to the Lone Cabbage Fish Camp, which is on the St. John's River, which separates Brevard and Orange counties. 

The Florida Forest Service first reported this fire at 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon, saying it was more than 15 acres. The flames and plume of smoke could be seen for miles.

At last check the fire was 50 percent contained.

By 5:15 the fire was 60 acres. By 6 pm, it was 75 acres. And at 8:20 it was 225 acres.

That number is likely larger now.

Florida Forest Service officials say they are letting the fire burn up to the water.

The agency is getting help from both Brevard County and Orange County fire rescue.

The Florida Forest Service said some type of equipment use caused the fire.
