Laurie Davison, Reporter
Bay News 9's Laurie Davison is a general assignment reporter based in the news channel's Hillsborough County newsroom.
Laurie is a TV news veteran with more than 10 years' experience, and her work has earned several industry awards. Her many honors include an Emmy award, the Society of Professional Journalists' Mark of Excellence, and the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award for feature reporting in a large market.
She has ridden through hail while chasing tornadoes, weathered state politics in Alabama's capital and juggled Texas-sized rodeos. Laurie is a journalist who loves what she does and has the passion to do it well -- no matter what the story.
Although she grew up in Florida, Laurie's career began in Midland, Texas, at KTPX-TV, where she was a weekend anchor, reporter and producer. From there, Laurie worked as an anchor and medical reporter for stations in Meridian, Miss., and Montgomery, Ala. Most recently, Laurie was a general assignment reporter for WHBQ-TV in Memphis, Tenn., before coming home to Florida as a reporter with Bay News 9.
Laurie graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in broadcast journalism. While there, she was inducted into Florida Blue Key leadership honorary. In her spare time, Laurie enjoys traveling, going to movies, spending time by the water and spoiling her dog, a Maltese named Darby.
