Saundra Weathers, Reporter

Saundra Weathers is a general assignment reporter for Bay News 9.

A Florida native, Saundra has worked for several local news stations across the state. She began her career in Tallahassee. The state’s capital is also home to her alma mater, Florida A&M University.

Saundra has a degree in Broadcast Journalism and often gives back to FAMU by mentoring students and assisting with journalism seminars.

When Saundra left Tallahassee she set her sights on Ft. Myers where she worked for two years. While there she covered some very high profile stories. One of those stories was about a group from a small community who traveled to the governor’s office, fighting to keep their main employer in town.

Saundra now calls the Bay Area home and has had a chance to cover some of the area’s biggest news stories.

Saundra is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. She's recently earned Associated Press awards for two stories: one about a robbery involving honey bees, and the other about a close-call shooting involving a mother and her small child.

When she’s not at work Saundra is most likely at the beach, enjoying the Florida sunshine.

You can catch Saundra’s reports weeknights on Bay News 9.
