DUNEDIN- Tyler Vogel has been going through the same warmup routine since his breakout freshman year at Dunedin High School in 2015.

And like a fine wine, the junior pitching phenom continues to get better age.

“I have a word on the mound,” Vogel said.  “It’s called ‘powerful’.  When I get on the mound, I’m the best pitcher.  I want to get you out.”

For three years, outs have come in bunches for the Falcons' ace.

Armed with four good pitches, including an 88 mile per hour fastball, Vogel has been a consistent force for Dunedin, with a career ERA of 1.20.

“On the mound, he’s just a different kid,” Dunedin head coach Ron Sexton said.  “It’s like he puts the cape on.”

Vogel perfected his craft working with the late, great Roy Halladay.

Tyler called the two-time Cy Young award winner his greatest teacher.

Recently, Vogel has been just as outstanding for the Falcons at the plate as he is on the rubber.

His four-hit, three-steal game against Boca Ciega last week is a perfect example of Vogel's value as a well-rounded player.

“We have a saying that you’re dangerous with the bat," Vogel said.  "And every time you say that, you have to know that no one can beat you.”

Vogel already has a college scholarship offer from Savannah State, but it's been his dream to play at UCF since he was in sixth grade.

That was news to his parents, who love USF, and his sister, who is a student at USF.

Wherever Tyler ends up, he'll be a great catch.
