A Tampa man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 70-year-old woman in a church last week.

Demetreius Morris, 26, was arrested after police said DNA linked him to the assault, which happened last Thursday at the Living Word Fellowship on North 13th Street in Tampa.

According to reports, the woman had gone inside the church to get a key for a rental home nearby.  As she walked to the rental home, the suspect approached her and started asking her some questions about the church.

The woman walked back to the church, and the suspect asked if he could see the sanctuary, police said. The woman unlocked the door and let him inside the church.

That's when police said the suspect covered the woman's mouth with his hand, pushed her into a chair and sexually assaulted her.

Police said a crime scene technician took swabs from the woman and submitted them to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, who informed the police department that the DNA matched Morris.

Morris was arrested without incident.  He has been charged with sexual battery, kidnapping, lewd and lascivious battery on an elderly person and lewd and lascivious molestation of an elderly person.
