Pinellas deputies arrested a man Friday afternoon saying he impersonated a law enforcement officer in order to get free food.

Joseph Pineda of Pinellas Park now faces multiple charges.

Employees at the McDonald's restaurant located at 5464 66th Street N. in St. Petersburg said the 33-year-old man first placed his order at the drive-thru speaker.

Deputies say when the employee gave the cost of the food, Pineda announced he was an officer and wanted a free meal.

When Pineda came to the window, employees said he flashed a badge and showed a gun.

Employees then called 911.

When deputies responded they say Pineda would not immediately show his hands.

When they challenged him at gunpoint, he complied.

Deputies say they then found two badges and a .45 caliber gun in Pineda's vehicle.

The investigation continues.
