Deputies are investigating a crash Saturday night in which an 89-year-old driver in a sports utility vehicle struck and injured a teenager on a bicycle.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Mary Woodmansee of Clearwater had stopped her Jeep Cherokee on New York Avenue at the Main Street intersection around 8 p.m.

The bicyclist, 16-year-old Daniel McLaughlin, was headed east on Main Street on the sidewalk. As he crossed New York Avenue in the crosswalk, he was struck by the Jeep as Woodmansee began to right turn right onto Main.

Deputies say McLaughlin was not wearing a helmet and had no lights on the bike. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
