A Citrus County family is in mourning after the death of a loved one while on active duty.

Army Sgt. Logan Harbison of Inverness served two tours in Iraq. He died earlier this month in Lakewood, Wash., where he was stationed, after what officials said was a gun accident, according to the Citrus County Chronicle.

Family members say Harbison, 25, was planning to return to the Inverness area and work with the sheriff's office or as a pastor. His mother and stepfather had been planning to visit him for Thanksgiving when they learned about the accident.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cornerstone Baptist Church.

The family requests donations in Logan's memory to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66685 or woundedwarriorproject.org in lieu of flowers.
