According to Bay News 9 meteorologist Diane Kacmarik, a Hard Freeze Warning is in effect for Citrus and Hernando Counties for at least 8 hours Saturday night. Lows in Citrus and Hernando will be in the mid 20's.

"Temperatures will also drop below freezing in areas of Pasco County and there is a possibility of frost from Citrus County south into Hillsborough, Polk and Manatee Counties," Kacmarik said. "Even parts of interior Pinellas could get some frost."

Kacmarik also said to bring in pets and cover sensitive plants Saturday night. Christmas lights can help to prevent frost and freezing (the old kind, not LEDs).

After tonight's winter blast, a warming trend will begin Sunday. It'll run through Christmas on Tuesday, with the high that day projected to reach 77 degrees. Another cold front will arrive on Wednesday, and it could bring showers.
