A well known Citrus County landmark is rising from the ashes.

During the summer of 2011, an accidental fire left a burnt out mess behind the Marguerita Grill in Homosassa.

Fire crews tried to save what they could but the restaurant was a total loss.

Samuel Piliouras and his father never took down the restaurant's sign because they knew they would open again.

“We didn’t know when but we eventually knew we would do it,” Piliouras said.

Right now, the foundation is being built. The plan is to put a two story building on the site. The old restaurant was only one story.

Jasmine Coatney was a bartender at the restaurant. She says she can’t wait to get back to work.

“I drive by and see work happening," Coatney said. "It is exciting.”

The plan is for the restaurant to re-open by May or June.

Around forty people lost their jobs when the restaurant burned down.

The owners say they hope to hire everyone back.
