A Bradenton man was arrested after deputies said he tied a puppy to the bumper of his pickup truck and drove away.
Mauro Martinez, 34, was arrested this past weekend and charged with cruelty to an animal and driving without a license.
According to reports, the deputy said to have seen Martinez dragging the bleeding dog along 57th Avenue E and stopped him as he approached Ninth Street.
The puppy suffered road burn on its stomach and legs.
Manatee County Animal Services is now caring for the dog.
