Lakeland Linder Regional Airport officials are scrambling to find a service provider to and from the airport following the sudden cancellation of flights by carrier Direct Air.
The South Carolina-based public charter airline canceled all flights for the next two months. The cancellations will affect flights at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport.
A spokesperson for Lakeland Linder said Tuesday that Direct Air told them the reason behind the hiatus is because a fuel supplier had cut off the company.
Lakeland Linder spent $5,000 to put passengers up in area hotels Tuesday night.
Direct Air also services Orlando Sanford International Airport.
