A bicyclist sustained life-threatening injuries Sunday night in a collision with a van in Seminole.
The crash happened on Park Street, just south of Burning Tree Drive just after 11 p.m.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, both the bicylist, Roger L. Hiers, 54, and the driver of the van, John L. Collins, 52, were headed northbound on Park Street, when the bicylist rode into the path of the Dodge van and was struck.
Hiers was transported by ambulance to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of head injuries.
Collins was not injured in the crash.
Deputies said the area where the crash occured was not very well lit.
Investigators also said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash on the part of the biclycist. There were no signs of impairment on the part of the vehicle driver.
The investigation is ongoing.
