A 69-year-old man was shot and killed by a 9-year-old boy in what officials said was a tragic hunting accident.
Hardee County Sheriff's officials said Kenneth Lindsey Beach was shot in a rural area of Hardee County, near Sweetwater Road and George Marsh Road, in Zolfo Springs.
The boy was hunting with Beach around 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
A Hardee County Sheriff's detective confirmed the hunters are from Polk County, and Beach was a seasoned hunter.
The detective reiterated the shooting appears to be accidental and no charges are expected.
The boy's relation to Beach has not been disclosed and he will not be identified.
