Red noses, tissues, watery eyes, sneezing; all signs indicating that allergy season is in full force.

This year has been particularly bad since we didn't have a cold winter.

Many of the pollen producing plants, trees, and grasses didn't fully die off during the winter.

So, it has been months. Believe me....I am one of the sufferers. Adding to that, is the mess of the oak pollen, the yellowish brown stuff all over the streets, sidewalks, driveways, cars. Putting it simply, it is pretty gross.

March and April are typically quite rough when it comes to the oak pollen as the trees are blooming and we usually have very dry and warm weather.

When we say "we need the rain" in my mind it isn't only to add water to the ground.

It is to cleanse the air and the ground.

Well, on Wednesday of this week, some of us not only got some rain, but a major soaking.

Two to three inches of rain fell in a wide area across Hillsborough County.

Parts of Pasco, Manatee, Hernando, and Citrus all benefitted from over an inch of rain. A few pockets in North and Central Pinellas County also experienced rainfall of around one half inch.  South Pinellas stayed dry.

It is amazing how much better I felt Thursday.

Sniffles, sneezing, watery eyes, were all gone- at least for a day anyway.

We can't stop the trees from blooming so the pollen is coming back.

And for those of you that didn't get the rain, it never left.

Hopefully some more rains will greet us during this dry time of year.

If not, back to the pharmacy I go for anti-histamine and tissues.

Hope you enjoyed the break!
