A serious multi-vehicle accident shut down the northbound side of the Howard Frankland Bridge on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at least one car flipped as a result of the accident near the Kennedy Boulevard exit around 4 p.m..

Several victims were injured and transported from the scene. Officials did not know the extent of the victims' injuries.

Northbound Howard Frankland Bridge was completely shut down for around 45 minutes. It has since reopened.
