Deputies continue to investigate the discovery of a dead man inside a Valrico home.

He was identified Wednesday afternoon as 61-year-old Samuel Lee Partin.

Deputies responded to a home in the 1900 block of Erin Brooke Drive just after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Officials said when the victim’s wife and son arrived home Tuesday, they discovered what appeared to be a residential burglary. They left the home and called 911.

When a deputy arrived and searched the home, he discovered a dead man in one of the bedrooms.

Homicide detectives were called and then secured the scene.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., after securing a search warrant, detectives entered the house and the body was turned over to the Medical Examiner's Office.

The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death.

Preliminary indications are the victim suffered trauma to the upper torso. The victim was positively identified through fingerprints.

Detectives do not believe that the incident is a random act and the victim is known to the suspect or suspects.

Neighbors watched the scene most of the day.

"I don't think it was random, nothing random happens around here, everyone knows each other," said David Caldwell.

No arrests have been made.

Deputies are also investigating an unrelated homicide in Tampa after a man's body was found face down in a Tampa parking lot shortly after 3 a.m.
