The man authorities say was behind a huge charity fraud has been arrested.

According to Bay News 9's partner newspaper the Tampa Bay Times, Bobby Thompson is in federal custody.

U.S. Marshals arrested Thompson in Bend, Ore., Monday night.

Investigators say Thompson used a fake charity based in Tampa called "U.S. Navy Veterans Association" to steal millions of dollars.

Thompson has spent the past two years on the run after deputies raided a Hillsborough County home in 2010 searching for documents related to Thompson and the charity.

Thompson, in his early 60s,  was indicted in Ohio for running the scam veterans charity with chapters nationwide that raised nearly $100 million during eight years.
