A fire destroyed a 600-square-foot apartment and a $100,000 Grady-White boat Monday morning in Holmes Beach, according to West Manatee Fire Rescue.
Authorities said the apartment, which was on the back of a house on the 5600 block of 56th Street, caught fire at 10:42 a.m. and firefighters arrived about a minute later.
The owners were home when the fire started but were not injured, authorities said. The fire department said the apartment and boat, which was stored under a high cover next to the apartment, were total losses and estimated damage at $250,000.
