Tampa General Hospital has reached a new milestone.
The facility is now the fourth busiest transplant center in the country.
Last year alone, TGH performed 500 organ transplants.
"I think volume is not only important but quality and all these patients have done well. I think it’s not only providing the oopportunity, we have hundreds of people on waiting lists, and if we can provide them with a good quality product, than we’ve done our mission, we’ve done our job," said Dr. Victor Bowers, Executive Director of abdominal transplants.
TGH conducted their first transplant procedure in 1974.
