The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a two-car crash that killed two people on US Highway 301 in Wimauma around 8pm Saturday night.
Troopers said 26-year-old William Cole Boyd of Riverview was headed southbound on the highway in his 2011 Dodge Caliber.
The FHP says he lost control of his car, went into the northbound lanes at Ayeresworth Glen Boulevard and hit 44-year-old Ana Simon, also of Riverview, in her 2008 Toyota Corolla.
Both drivers received critical injuries. Emergency crews flew them to Tampa General Hospital where they later died.
The FHP says they will continue to investigate.
