New information has been released in the investigation of a man accused of walking into a Lakeland church and opening fire after allegedly killing his wife.

According to Polk County Sheriff's detectives, Jeremiah Fogle walked into the Greater Faith Christian Church last September and shot two pastors.

Newly released crime scene photos from discovery documents show the inside of the church just after the shooting, including a photo of a microphone stand detectives said church members used to fight back against Fogle. According to officials, Fogle was taken into custody with a laceration to his head and one round left in the chamber of his .32 caliber revolver. Fogle had another six rounds in his pocket.

Detectives said Fogle stormed through the doors as church members prayed, walked to the front of the sanctuary and shot Pastor William Boss and Associate Pastor Carl Stewart. As many as 20 parishioners were in the church taking part in a prayer service prior to the regular morning service.

According to officials, Fogle was wearing dress pants and a dress shirt as he walked through the front door of the church, walked down the center aisle and walked over to the right side of the church where Boss was kneeling in prayer. Fogle allegedly bent down -- as if to identify Boss -- stood and shot Boss in the back of the skull.

Fogle then allegedly turned to Stewart on the left side of the church and shot him three times. The bullets hit Stewart in the head behind the left ear, in the left shoulder and the middle of Stewart's back.

When detectives went to Fogle's home, they found the body of his wife, Theresa, who had also been shot.

On a table, investigators discovered handwritten notes --- alleged "confessions" that appear to have been written by Theresa, admitting her infidelity. Detectives believe she may have been forced to write the letters before her death.

The lengthy list of names, detectives said, suggests Fogle suspected his wife had affairs with men, including a relationship with someone involved in the church. Another note says, "I hated Jeremiah Fogle" and "I tricked him in to marrying me."

When asked about the notes by phone Saturday, Boss said no one at the church had been in contact with Theresa for years before the shooting.  He said since the incident, those who still attend service at the church are doing their best to move on and continue their work in the community.

As the case moves forward, there may be more charges brought against Fogle. Although Steward initially survived the shooting, but he later died.

Investigators are working to determine if his death was caused by his wounds from the shooting.

Suspect a former deacon at church

Fogle and his wife were once members of the church and were married at the church in 2002. Neither were a current member of the church and had not attended services at the church in several years.

According to witnesses, Fogle was once a deacon at the church, but left the church after a disagreement.

Fogle has been charged with first degree murder and three counts of attempted murder.
