Detectives have arrested a 33-year-old Arizona man who they say flew to Tampa to meet a wheelchair-bound 14-year-old girl for sex.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Jonathan David Lane of Bullhead City, Ariz., sent lewd pictures of himself and numerous messages by computer and cell phone to the victim between June 2011 and this month.

Detectives say Lane traveled to Tampa on Sunday, using tickets bought by the victim with her grandmother's credit card.

The girl's father intercepted messages from Lane about the planned rendezvous and contacted Tampa International Airport police. TIA police detained Lane after his arrival and contacted the sheriff's office.

"The disgusting thing about this is the suspect fully knew the victim was 14 years of age," Hillsborough County Sheriff's Capt. Frank Baker said. "He went out of his way, apparently, to convince her to purchase a ticket so he could come here to Tampa to meet her."

Lane was arrested and charged with traveling to meet a minor for sex, using a computer to solicit certain illegal acts, transmission of harmful material to a minor and lewd or lascivious battery.

"The only message I can send out to parents is, you've got to be curious," Baker said. "Your children are your precious cargo. Check their emails, check what websites they're going to, check their phone messages. You've got to protect them from these folks."
