Aira Karina Curad Mallari, 17, of Largo died overnight at St. Joseph's Hospital from injuries sustained in a crash on Interstate 75 in Pasco County just after 5:30 p.m.. Kyle Eugene Mansfield, 25, of Hernando was critically injured in the I-75 crash.
Mallari was driving north on I-75 near State Road 54 when she lost control of her 2008 Honda Civic, crossed the median and rotated into the path of a 2012 Chevy pickup truck, troopers said.
The truck, driven by Mansfield, 25, collided with the Honda, causing it to split into two and catch fire. A second truck, a 2000 Ford Ranger driven by Christina L. Penner, 46 of Largo, collided with the first truck.
Mallari was airlifted to St. Joseph's, and Mansfield was taken to Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. Mansfield was listed in critical condition late Friday and his condition hasn't been updated.
Penner sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The crash on I-4 happened about 10:15 p.m.
According to troopers, Warren was standing in the outside lane of eastbound I-4 approaching Polk Parkway when he was struck and run over by a semi-truck driven by Elihu Cabrera, 48 of Brandon. Two other vehicles traveling east also ran over Warren.
Eastbound I-4 was closed until about 1:30 a.m.
With traffic backed up on I-75, a second crash occurred about six miles north of the first one at 7:35 p.m.
Troopers said a tractor-trailer driven by driven by Victor M. Aviles-Santos, 40, of Miami was cut off by an unknown identified vehicle. Aviles-Santos attempted to avoid a collision by swerving and braking, but he hit a guardrail, which caused the truck to jackknife.
The truck came to rest on the inside shoulder with the cab racing north and the trailer overturned on its left side. No injuries were reported from that crash.
