The suspect accused of causing a deadly wrong-way crash on Interstate-275 early Thursday morning has been arrested after being released from the hospital.

According to Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Sgt. Steve Gaskins, Christopher Ponce, 22, was arrested Friday as he was released from Tampa General Hospital at 3:30 p.m.

Troopers said a 2012 Ford Fusion driven by Ponce was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-275 and collided head on with a 2000 Ford Mustang.

One person was killed and three seriously injured in the crash near downtown Tampa early Thursday morning. The driver of a Mustang, 20-year-old William Angel, was killed at the scene, officials said. Two passengers, 22-year-old Robert Newberry of Lutz and 20-year-old Jay Davis of Wesley Chapel, were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with serious injuries.

Ponce was booked into the Orient Road Jail on charges of DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, 2 counts of reckless driving involving serious bodily injury and 2 count of DUI with serious bodily injury.

Ponce was also arrested in 2011 for driving with a revoked license.
