Gov. Rick Scott is getting the cold shoulder from many of his fellow Florida Republicans.

As the Tampa Bay Times points out, candidates on the campaign trail are avoiding mentions of the governor. Instead, they're citing endorsements from more popular Republicans, such as former Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio.

Even in the Pinellas County sheriff's race, an ad for Everett Rice refers to Sheriff Bob Gualtieri as "a Tallahasee appointee." That's a reference to Gualtieri being appointed sheriff by Scott.

Political analysts say it's no surprise candidates are distancing themselves from Scott, given Scott's less-than-spectacular polling.

A Bay News 9-Tampa Bay Times survey shows that only 40 percent of Floridians approve of Scott's performance and more than half disapprove.

Scott does have significant support among conservatives. In the survey, two-thirds of Republicans said they approve of the job Scott's doing.

Scott is keeping his distance, too. He has avoided taking sides during the primaries and has not campaigned for presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
