As Republicans gear up for the Republican National Convention, Florida's former GOP chairman is sounding off about party officials.

Jim Greer is awaiting trial on criminal fraud charges. He has also filed a lawsuit against the party in an effort to get $130,000 in severance money he was promised before he resigned.

According to our partner paper, the Tampa Bay Times, 630 pages of depositions and other documents were released Wednesday in connection with the lawsuit.

In those documents, Greer called some party leaders "whack-a-do, right-wing crazies," and claims some GOP leaders were looking for ways to suppress black votes and constantly scheming against each other.

It's likely the severance lawsuit won't be settled until after Greer's criminal trial this November.
