After a half-year of hard campaigning, fundraising and no election, one Bay area community has elected a new Guv'na.

Though some make the argument politicians buy their positions, the candidates in this race made no bones about it: you outright buy the Guv'naship.

Every 4th of July, after their parade, Lutz elects a new town leader strictly on bribes.

"It's called Guv'na, G-U-V-N-A," paradegoer Ron Zeller said Wednesday.

Guv'na candidates aren't ashamed in the least to admit that being the next Guv'na is about the size of their war-chest. "We admit that the candidate who earns the most money gets to be in the office," Eleanor Cecil, who helped organize the dubious election, said.

For the four candidates who participated in the 2012 race, every dollar earned, despite who wins, goes back to the community of Lutz.

Karen D'Amico proudly took the oath of office this year sometime around lunch. "We might take over Land O' Lakes, or at least capture their Wal-Mart," D'Amico declared. She took the oath of office with her right hand firmly placed on Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham.

She said her first order of business was to get a hot dog, then a shower.

Her dream came true, even if it was based on bogus campaign promises and bribes. "I took bribes -- and I'll take more," D'Amico added. She raised more than $5,000 dollars for her community and will carry the title of Guv'na until July 4, 2013.

The grand total raised by the four candidates stood at $9,529.15.

D'Amico received the key to the community, but the Guv'na doesn't collect a salary.
