The Tarpon Springs Police Department is looking for a man who they say shot his brother multiple times the day after their father’s funeral.

The shooting occurred in the 400 block of Grand Blvd.

The victim is 53-year-old John Steve Stavrakis. Officers are searching his brother, 54-year-old Phillip Steve Stavrakis.

According to Tarpon Springs Police, John and his brother Phillip were at a family gathering due to the passing of their father whose funeral was held last night.

The two got into an altercation at Phillip's apartment when police say Phillip pulled out a gun and shot his brother John multiple times, one of which was in the abdomen.

Police say John was able to make it back to their mother's house down the street where relatives called 911.

A neighbor said she heard the shots.

"I'm in the kitchen, I heard a few pops, I guess. And I just assumed it was some kids playing around with maybe some Greek bombs or whatever,” said Sophia Konstantin, neighbor. "And then I heard the fire trucks come and the police and realized it was right across the street from me."

The victim is at Bayfront Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

The suspect was observed by witnesses leaving the area in a 1999 Silver Cadillac, FL Tag 806 MGR. If anyone has information of his whereabouts please call police at 727-938-2840 or call 911.
