Sen. Bill Nelson and U.S. Rep Connie Mack IV will face off in the general election for Nelson's Senate seat.

Nelson was facing a challenger from within his own party, Glenn Burkett, on Tuesday night, but easily won the primary race. Burkett is a nutritional supplement dealer and health adviser from Santa Rosa Beach.

U.S. Rep. Connie Mack IV led the Republican field with 59 percent of the vote as ballots were counted early, and was announced as the winner around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Nelson and Mack will face each other in November for the U.S. Senate seat.
