Voters in Hernando County cast their ballots in several statewide and local races on Tuesday.

Al Nienhuis beat Bobby Sullivan in the sheriff's race and will move onto the general election in November.

“It’s exciting. We have a great crew both inside the sheriff’s office and in the campaign,” Nienhuis said. “We ran a real positive campaign, running on our record. Obviously, the citizens spoke decisively tonight on who they want to go into the general election."
