A St. Petersburg teacher's aide was arrested after investigators said he uploaded photos of naked children to a social networking site.

Thomas Chaney, 61, is facing charges of promoting the sexual performance by a child, which is a second-degree felony.

Investigators said they received information from the social networking site that someone was uploading images of naked children to an account on the site, and they were eventually able to link the account to Chaney.

Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement seized several computers from Chaney's home on 46th Avenue N.  Investigators said the computers will undergo forensic examination to see if they contain any child pornography.

Chaney works as a full-time teacher's aide at the Nina Harris Exceptional Student Education Center for the 2011-2012 school year. School officials said he was assigned to assist in a high school classroom with students who have severe or profound intellectual disabilities.

Chaney had also worked as a substitute teacher at the school since 2003. He was first hired as a substitute teacher in 1989.

School officials said a phone message has been sent to the families of students at Nina Harris notifying them of Chaney's arrest.

Chaney has been booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
