Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of two Hillsborough County School buses.

The buses were discovered missing on August 19, 2012 at approximately 1:54 a.m.

The buses were parked at Miles Elementary School located at 317 East 124th Avenue in Tampa.

Information was received that the buses were last seen headed northbound on Interstate 75.  On Tuesday, officials said they learned that one bus was last seen in Marion County, while the other was in Pasco County.

A statewide alert has been issued for the buses, which officials believe are still mobile.  Detectives are asking the public to be vigilant for Hillsborough County School buses parked or abandoned in any unusual location or being used in any suspicious manner.

Officials said the Department of Homeland Security has been informed about the thefts as a matter of post-Sept. 11 protocol.

Officials also said they have no reason to believe that the theft is related to the upcoming Republican National Convention.

Anyone with any information reference the whereabouts of the buses or the suspects is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200 or to be eligible for a cash reward call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477), report anonymously online at www.crimestopperstb.com or text "CSTB plus your tip" to C-R-I-M-E-S (274637).
