A woman has been arrested after trying to cash a check belonging to one person and using the stolen identification of another, say deputies.

An employee at a Bank of America on Spring Hill Drive called deputies, providing them with a description of the suspect and the vehicle.

Deputies found the vehicle abandoned and later a woman matching the description of the suspect, identified as Jessenia Colon.

Deputies say Colon admitted to being the driver of the vehicle in question and to attempting to cash the check at the Bank of America.

Detectives then made contact with both victims and found that both items (check and ID) were recently stolen and reported to their local law enforcement agencies.

The victims recently had their vehicles burglarized at gas stations while they were pumping gas, deputies say. One incident occurred in Pasco County, the other in Hillsborough County.

Colon was transported to the Hernando County detention center where she is being charged with one count of organized scheme to defraud and one count of identity theft. Her bond is $2,000.

Two other suspects are being sought.
