A man convicted of a sex crime against a child in Hillsborough County in 1992 has been arrested in St. Augustine on a new sexual offense.

Charles Lee Gorish, 66, of St. Augustine was charged by federal authorities with transporting child pornography from Florida to Canada.

According to the criminal complaint, Gorish sent a package to someone in Ontario, Canada containing two micro SD media cards with numerous images of child pornography.

It was intercepted by Canadian law enforcement officers, who then contacted U.S. officials.

Last Friday, FBI agents and St. Johns County sheriff's personnel executed a federal search warrant at Gorish’s residence.  Gorish was interviewed and, according to authorities, admitted to acquiring the files on the SD cards of sexually explicit images of boys.

According to court records, Gorish is a registered sex offender. He was convicted on Feb. 24, 1992 in Hillsborough County for lewd and lascivious conduct on a child under 16.

If convicted on the transporting child pornography charge, Gorish would face 15 to 40 years in federal prison.
