Emergency crews have rescued six boaters from a sinking boat some six miles off the Pinellas Co. coast.

According to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, a 24-foot Grady-White boat was taking on water and became nearly submerged in the Gulf waters. Two boaters were believed to be in the water with the other four remaining on board when crews arrived; all the boaters had life jackets, officials said.

The Pinellas Co. Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Coast Guard made contact with those on the boat and found no one injured. Four of the boaters on a FWC boat and two on a PCSO boat were brought back to Don's Dock in Madeira Beach. No one was taken to a hospital.

The boat's name is the Miss Kathy Too.

The boat was some six miles off the coast of John's Pass. Arrangements were being made to get the vessel towed back to shore.

Eckerd College Search and Rescue and Madeira Fire Rescue assisted in the rescue.
