Hillsborough County GOP chairman Art Wood says the Romney campaign event planned for Wednesday in Oldsmar is now canceled.

Wood announced Sunday morning that Romney would hold a public rally at 8 p.m. in Oldsmar, the same day former President Bill Clinton is expected to campaign for President Barack Obama in Orlando.

Further details for Wednesday's event were expected to be announced as plans were finalized, but instead the event was postponed for an undetermined date. "I am confident he will be back soon," Wood said.

The reason for the cancellation has not been given, but, the Tampa Bay Times is reporting Ann Romney may take her husband's place for a bay area event.

The visit would have marked the third week in a row that the 2012 presidential campaign spotlight would swing into the Tampa Bay area.

Romney has campaigned in Lakeland and Jacksonville since leaving the RNC.

Obama also focused on Central Floridawith campaign stops in Seminole, Kissimmee, Melbourne and West Palm Beach following the Democratic National Convention.
