The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says a deputy broke his finger following a fight involving Greco Middle School students aboard a school bus Thursday afternoon.
Students started arguing aboard the bus, forcing the driver to pull off the road at Sewaha Road and 56th Street.
Deputy Troy Fallin, according to the Sheriff's Office, saw the bus and went to investigate around 4:30 p.m.
While on the bus, deputies say, a 15-year-old 8th grader shoved the deputy into the dashboard.
Deputies say Fallin and two Temple Terrace Police officers attempted to control the teen, but he continued to fight.
Other students taunted the officers and tried to pull the teen to the back of the bus to help him, according to the Sheriff's Office report.
The Temple Terrace officers eventually arrested the teen.
Fallin broke a finger.
The student went into custody on charges of battering an officer and resisting arrest.
Four other students were arrested.
