He's known as "The Shot Doctor", but some may know him as Marvin Harvey of Tampa.  He's trained some of the most talented basketball players in the world.

The 58-year-old makes his living traveling the world to teach basketball players the right way to shoot.   He's traveled from Russia to Lithuania, but Harvey says his heart has always been in Tampa.

"The concept was to create a place where kids could go, and be able to fail," said Harvey, "because you're going to have to fail and I don't think how many times he said it when he played, how many times he failed. Our kids don't get a chance to go anywhere and fail."

His idea first began when a friend suggested Harvey use an empty building as a classroom.  That classroom became Harvey's 'Shot Lab'.  Now it's a full time business.

Famous basketball players from around the world come to Tampa to learn from him.   But even youngsters like Kieffer Jordan say Harvey has been a great inspiration.

"I came here and I was like 'who's Marvin Harvey?' Once I took time and looked around I'm like this guy knows what he's talking about.  He's the teacher, the professor," said Jordan.

Jordan had never played the game before he entered the shot lab.  Harvey helped Jordan land a basketball scholarship to West Point.  It's a story Harvey hopes to repeat over and over for any kid who has the drive and wants the opportunity to train in the lab.

Harvey is starting a new class at the 'Shot Lab' on Monday.  Check out his website for more information.
