Two key positions are now filled at the revamped Hernando County Animal Services Department.

According to Bay News 9's partner paper, the Tampa Bay Times, Lisa Centonze has been hired as the new managing veterinarian, while Donna Black will serve as the animal advocate, rescue and volunteer coordinator.

Centonze will be the first full-time veterinarian for the county.

The new employees will start Jan. 22.

The department is being reorganized following several controversies, including two dogs that were accidentally put down last year.

An investigation into the department's problem also recommended the hiring of a new veterinary technician, but that position has not yet been filled.
