Yes, Charlie Crist is really going to run for governor again.

The former Republican governor-turned-independent-turned Democrat will officially announce his candidacy Monday, Nov. 4 in St. Petersburg, his hometown, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Crist has been putting out feelers and hinting at a run for months. He'll declare his intentions in downtown Straub Park, the same location at which he announcedhe was leaving the GOP to run for the U.S. Senate as an independent three years ago, according to Times political editor Adam Smith.

Getting a step ahead, Crist on Friday launched a new website, charliecrist.com, and released a video in which he takes on incumbent Republican Gov. Rick Scott.

"I'm an optimist, but let's face it, the past few years have been tough: government on the fringes, donors and politics above you, the people," Crist says. "You've seen the attacks — against full-time working people and their health care, against women and their doctors, against teachers, public schools and college affordability. And even against the simple act of casting your vote. It's not working."

The Republican Party of Florida released its own video showing a clip of Crist acknowledging that the Florida economy has improved in recent years.

"Charlie Crist isn't entitled to his own facts, and every time he attempts to rewrite his failed history or contradicts himself, we will respond to set the record straight,'' the Florida GOP said.
