A St. Petersburg woman died Monday after the vehicle she was riding in was broadsided on Fourth Street N. in St. Petersburg.

According to police, Cathy McMahon, 42, was a passenger in a 1992 Buick driven by her roommate, Christopher Davis, 53, around 7 p.m. Police said Davis was heading north on Fourth Street when, with the light green for north and southbound traffic, he turned into the path of a 2003 Toyota at 54th Avenue N.

The Toyota, driven by 42-year-old Teresa Downey of St. Petersburg, struck the Buick between the wheels on the passenger side, critically injuring McMahon.

McMahan was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead a short while later, police said.

Davis was taken to Bayfront with minor injuries. Downey, the driver of the Toyota, was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
