Gas prices have jumped as one of the busiest travel times approaches.

Florida now has some of the highest prices in the nation. That means we are up there with states that usually always have high prices like New York, New Jersey, California, Vermont and Connecticut.

The price of regular unleaded gas was $3.24 the first week of November in Florida. This week, the average price is $3.41.

During Thanksgiving week last year, the average price was $3.42 so we're just about the same this year.

Jessica Brady, with AAA in Tampa, said the price increase is due to supply. She said Florida gets gas from refineries in Louisiana and Texas and they've cut back their output because of maintenance issues. She said prices could continue to creep up in the coming days.

"Unfortunately, it doesn't look like gas prices in Florida are going to drop before the Thanksgiving holiday,” she said.
