Tampa police are continuing their search for a suspect in Sunday's fatal home invasion that left a pregnant woman dead.

Salatheia "Sunshine" Smith, 22, was killed in the home invasion, which happened at a home on N. Brooks Street shortly after 5 a.m. Police said one of the two masked men who broke into the home with the intent of robbing the occupants and shot Smith.  Smith was between six and eight weeks pregnant at the time.

Police said Smith's boyfriend, Charles P. Duefrane Jr., 23, released his pit bull, who attacked one of the suspects.  The suspect then shot the pit bull once in the leg.

At some point, the suspect dropped his handgun, and Duefrane picked it up and shot the suspect, later identified as Anthony Robinson, 35.

Robinson and the other suspect fled from the home, and Robinson collapsed outside of the house on the sidewalk, police said. Robinson remains in critical condition.  Police are still searching for the second suspect.

Smith and Duefrane lived together at the home. Duefrane's mother and 4-year-old sister were visiting at the time of the home invasion.  Police said Duefrane's mother shielded the little girl during the attack, and that neither was injured.

The pit bull was taken to an emergency veterinary clinic to receive treatment.

Anyone with information about the second suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers. Anonymous tips from the public that lead to an arrest are eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000.
