A stretch of Interstate 75 in Sarasota County was reopened after a crash Wednesday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the southbound lanes of I-75 were closed between the River Road Exit (191) and Sumter Blvd. exit (182) due to a crash into the Ponce De Leon overpass.

A dump truck was southbound on the interstate at 2:35 a.m. and struck the north side of the overpass at Ponce Deleon Blvd. at mile marker 184.

The Florida Department of Transportation sent bridge inspectors to the scene to access the damage to the bridge. At 3:45 p.m., officials reopened the southbound lanes of I-75.

Northbound lanes remained open all day.
