A glitch in the National Flood Insurance Program's system is keeping some flood-prone houses in St. Petersburg from showing up in the database.

According to our partners at the Tampa Bay Times, homes listed under "Saint Petersburg" - with the word "Saint" spelled out - may have different information than homes listed under the abbreviation "St."

This glitch means that hundreds of homeowners might have received incorrect information about the loss history on their properties.

FEMA admits the error and is working to update the computer system.
