Despite a mild start to the day, continuing cloudy skies and some rain chances, the Bay area will warm up into the mid 70s Friday.

According to Bay News 9 Meteorologist Diane Kacmarik, rain chances on Friday will be about 40 percent.

"There will be lots of clouds today," Kacmarik said. "There is a chance of some rain, though mostly in the northern part of the Bay area."

Some patchy showers moved through the area early Friday. Skies will remain mostly cloudy with high temperatures around 76 degrees this afternoon.

Rain chances will increase dramatically by Sunday with a 70 percent chance of showers.
